Interview Experience – WIPRO GMT (Global Media & Telecom ) – (On Campus – #2)

I am Jitendra Kumar Yadav, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology. This is my interview experience for the post of Project Engineer at Wipro Limited. I have described my selection process for the mentioned post in the following content.

Technical Interview

First of all I greeted the interviewer, he replied and asked me about myself. I told him about my hobbies, interests and family background etc. Then he asked me about my schooling, projects and industrial training. I explained him both of my minor projects in detail and after that I explained him about my industrial training which I did in Bharat Electronics Limited, Ghaziabad. As I had done projects on RADAR TESTING during my training, he was more interested in it. He asked me about RADAR testing, various types of RADAR, working of RADAR etc.

Some technical questions that he asked me are as follows:

1. Explain in detail how a call is connected?

Ans:- I explained him thoroughly about all the stages of call connection, that firstly the call goes to base switching centre (BSC) then after that it goes to mobile switching centre (MSC) where it is verified. After that further processing takes place and the call is forwarded to PSTN then again to MSC and again to BSC of the receiving party. (Very well explained in initial chapters of Wireless Communications : Principles and Practice )

2. Differentiate between GSM and CDMA?

Ans:- GSM (Global System for Mobiles) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) are the two major radio systems used in cell phones. Basic difference is; in GSM we have SIM card which is not the case in CDMA. (and I explained the various differences b/w their carrier, technology behind them, coding techniques etc.)

3. Tell me about the latest technologies in both telecom sector and IT sector?

Ans:- I explained him about OFDM and about Android.

4. Tell me about 5G?

Ans:- I explained him about 5G and various drawbacks of 4G. I also discussed about the Airtel 4G and its competitors like Reliance Gio and others.

5. Difference between http:// and https:// ?

Ans:- http:// stands for hyper text transfer protocol. In https:// ‘s’ stands for security.These are the internet protocols.(I explained both of them in detail)

6. Various internet protocols?

7. Meaning of word ‘churn’?

Then he asked that if you were a leader of a project how would you deal with it?

Ans:- I told him about various leadership qualities. How to handle the team. Various responsibilities of a leader etc.

At last he asked me about my location preference and whether it would be ok for me to work in night shifts.

Ans:- I replied that it would be fine with me to go to any location and night shifts is not a problem.

HR Interview

HR Interview was quite simple. The interviewer asked me the following questions:

1. Why do you want to join WIPRO?

Ans:- Since it is India’s third largest IT company and I always wanted to work with an organisation which would give me an opportunity to learn and grow. Since WIPRO is coming for a role of Associate Telecom Engineer, there cannot be a better opportunity for me to get into the field of electronics & communication Engineering.

2. What one change would you like to make in WIPRO and in JIIT?

Ans:- (in a light way I replied to it) May be the food in the canteen of the college and in WIPRO, I would like to increase the salary of freshers.

3. What if we send you to Kashmir with zero salary?

Ans:- I have no problem going to Kashmir with 0 salary.

4. What are your hobbies?

5. Are you comfortable with the 15 months bond?

Ans:- Yes, I am comfortable with it.
